The Institute is the house’s custodial arm: the body charged with keeping what the maison knows — its archive, its standards, its record — beyond the tenure of any one person.
It operates under a founding document, published in full and permanently anchored below.
The Charter — I. The Axiom
Knowledge is necessary to civilisation, yet insufficient to preserve it.
It endures only where memory is guarded and wisdom is earned anew in each generation.
The Charter continues with the Mandate and the Constitution — the reasoning that follows from the axiom, and the body it establishes to act on it.
