The house's commitment

A maison of books has no business excluding readers. Libro intends libro.org to be usable by everyone, whatever assistive technology they read with, and treats accessibility as part of the site’s craft rather than an addition to it.

The standard

The site is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. Conformance is assessed continuously during development and reviewed formally once a year; the site is partially conformant today, meaning most content meets the standard and the exceptions are known and listed below.

How the site is built

• Semantic HTML throughout: landmarks, headings in order, labelled navigation, and breadcrumbs on interior pages.
• Text set in relative units, readable when resized to 200%, with body contrast meeting AA against the house paper.
• Every control reachable and operable by keyboard alone, with visible focus.
• Images carry text alternatives; decorative elements are hidden from assistive technology.
• No content that flashes, and no motion that cannot be ignored.

Known limitations

Some photography of bindings and editions is presently described more briefly than the house would like, and occasional embedded content from other websites (see the Privacy Policy) is outside its control and may not meet the standard. Both are being worked through; this statement is revised as they are resolved.

Reporting a difficulty

If any part of this site is difficult for you to read or to use, the maison would like to know. Write to info@libro.org describing the page and the difficulty encountered; the house replies within five working days and, where the difficulty blocks you from something on the site, will provide the substance of it in another form in the meantime.
