Maranello Opens Its Archive
Enzo Ferrari founded his racing team in 1929 and put his name on a road car in 1947, and the company has guarded its own history as closely as its engines ever since. This official volume, made with the house's cooperation and published by Taschen in 2018 as a numbered collector's edition, draws on the Maranello archives for material the public had not seen, race records, correspondence, engineering drawings and photographs.
The text is led by Pino Allievi, the longtime Italian motorsport journalist, who knew the founder's court at first hand. The result is the company's own account of itself, produced to the finish of the cars, which is precisely what makes it a document; this is how Ferrari wishes to be remembered, told with the receipts.
