Founded by Uriah Maggs in 1853 and still directed by the family five generations on, Maggs has handled a Gutenberg Bible, the Codex Sinaiticus and Napoleon's ashes. A Curator whose catalogues are themselves collected — and an Endurer whose mechanism is patient family succession in a trade that rarely rewards it.
