The MakersThe Endurers

Letters patent from Henry VIII in 1534 gave the University of Cambridge the right to print, and it has published without interruption since 1584 — the oldest university press in the world. Its endurance mechanism is the charter: a right granted once, exercised continuously, and never allowed to lapse.
