Nassim Nicholas Taleb spent two decades as an options trader before turning to the subject that organised his life, the role of chance and extreme events in a world that keeps pretending to predictability. The Incerto gathers the five books of that project, from Fooled by Randomness in 2001 through The Black Swan, The Bed of Procrustes, Antifragile and Skin in the Game, as a single argument in five movements.
The Black Swan alone put its title phrase into everyday speech, and the later volumes push from diagnosis to prescription, towards systems and lives that gain from disorder rather than break under it. Random House issued this deluxe boxed set in 2021, the whole argument in one case, combative footnotes included.
